Advocating and Supporting the Douglas Shire Business Community

We are focused on offering representation for our business community to local, state and federal government on all matters concerning business in the Douglas Shire.

We support and work with Business Chamber Queensland (BCQ) to advocate on a State and Federal level and work closely with Douglas Shire Council to advocate for matters affecting our business community locally.

We conduct regular meetings with CCIQ, Douglas Shire Council and TPDD to ensure issues facing our business community are heard and have regular contact with the Department of Employment Small Business and Training and QLD Small Business Commissioners Office.

With your support we aim to make Douglas Shire a great place to do business and would love to hear from you if you in how you think we could assist local business.

  • Economic development: particularly working with Douglas Shire Council to encourage investment in the shire – e.g. participating in projects like the Economic Development Strategy, Douglas Shire Investment Prospectus.
  • Advocacy: representing the interests of private industry, notably the small business sector, in meetings with all levels of government; being a signatory to the Small Business Friendly Charter in which the Douglas Shire Council, its partners and small businesses support a prosperous and sustainable small business sector in our community.
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the shared land and sea areas of the Douglas Shire, especially the Eastern Kuku Yalanji and Djabuganjdji Traditional people. We pay our respects to Elders of the past, present and those emerging and future and thank them for their continuing role and presence in maintaining and caring for this country and sea.
