Jeremy Blockey

President
Jeremy has worked in Far North Queensland for the past 32 years as an economist, business consultant, and strategic advisor. Aside from running his own consultancy business, Jeremy had a 15-month contract with the Queensland Government as Queensland’s Special Trade Representative to Papua New Guinea. Jeremy also spent 12 months in a corporate role with ASX-listed mining company Consolidated Tin Mines. In early 2015 Jeremy became actively involved in the family farm at Cape Tribulation, North Queensland, which has been owned by the Gray family since the late 1970s.
Jeremy and his wife Merran bought Cape Trib Farm in 2016 and now grow over 70 varieties of exotic fruit, run a B&B farmstay, and run fruit tasting as a tourism experience.

Jeremy has built a strong network of business connections across the region, complemented by his involvement in and being a committee member of a number of business and not-for-profit organisations – including serving on the Cairns Chamber of Commerce committee for seven years (3½ years as President), and five years on Advance Cairns; other board roles have included Trinity Anglican School, JUTE Theatre, the TNQ Institute of TAFE Council, and Djarragun Enterprises (an Indigenous social enterprise).

Pia McKeown Owner and operator of Temptatations Licensed Bar & Cafe in Mossman established 34 years ago and has diversified the business over the years keeping up to the current market and trends. Pia also operators a fashion boutique for the past 12 years in Mossman and Port Douglas.
Pia has past experience as a managing director of a large passenger transport company for 16 years in Mossman, Port Douglas and Cairns areas, and has great knowledge in local community and tourist expectations while visiting the shire.

Pia is committed to supporting the Douglas Shire Chamber to help drive new and existing business to succeed and grow our region.

Martin Tranter

Treasurer
Martin Tranter is a partner of Bolt Burchill Tranter Lawyers. He moved to Port Douglas from the Atherton Tablelands in 1996 and has been a solicitor practising in the Douglas Shire since 1998. Martin acts for numerous business, body corporate and farming concerns throughout the Atherton Tablelands and Far North Queensland region.
His fields of practice are predominantly Business, Body Corporate, Management Rights, Commercial and Residential Property related fields.

Martin was a founding committee member of the Chamber of Commerce and has been a Chamber Committee member for numerous years including many stints as Vice President.

His passion is to help and guide new businesses and existing businesses to prosper and succeed and as a product of that success to strengthen the Douglas region’s community and economy.

Evelyn Matthews

Evelyn Matthews

Evelyn Matthews was born in Mossman and has lived here for 56 years. She works in the Mossman sugarcane industry and is currently Manager and Company Secretary of Mossman CaneGrowers Limited. Evelyn has worked for the Mossman CaneGrowers organisation in various roles for the last 37 years.
She manages the Company’s investment properties being the land and building at 2 Mill Street, Mossman. The property is currently leased to Cairns Hardware. Evelyn has a Certificate IV in Business Administration. Mossman CaneGrowers Limited is the peak primary industry body representing sugarcane growers in Douglas and in the Julatten area, who supply sugarcane to Mossman Mill from approximately 7,000 hectares of land. One of the main functions of the organisation is as Bargaining Agents to collectively negotiate on behalf of members/growers for supply of sugarcane to Mossman Mill and for the Cane Analysis Program, which is used for growers’ cane payment purposes. They are also involved in the oversight of the operation of these agreements on behalf of growers. Other objectives are to promote unity within in the industry to strengthen our ability to provide representation, leadership and services to our members and sugarcane growers in general. 
Wade Greasley

Wade Greasley, Kaia Day Spa & Business Disputes Solutions Wade Greasley is the owner of Kaia Day Spa, a five star day spa experience located at the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort Port Douglas. Wade has owned Kaia for nearly one year, after 7 years owning Niramaya Spa, at Niramaya Villas and Spa. Wade arrived in Port Douglas in 2013, with 20 years commercial banking experience.
Wade has recently graduated law and is now a Nationally Accredited Mediator. Wade has established his dispute resolution and mediation practice, Business Dispute Solutions from offices in Port Douglas. Wade is committed to working with all parties to a dispute, to achieve an outcome, and save the time and cost imposed by litigation. Wade and his team are engaged with the local community, having been long term supporters of the local Breast Cancer Support Group, Pink in the Tropics.
